Essential Oils and Herbs that Boost the Immune System
I have been a certified wellness coach for several years. And my biggest concern is to keep me and my family healthy, naturally. Lets face facts, going to the doctors is not cheap, even with insurance. And many times the prescription drugs have worse side affects than the illness itself! So why not be pro-active and stay healthy with natural products and ingredients that boost the immune system? There are so many holistic ways to boost your immune system and I want to share what has worked best for my family. So lets start digging into the Essential Oils and Herbs that Boost the Immune System!
Quality Essential Oils
This is just the tip of the ice berg on how pure, therapeutic essential oils added to your daily routine can enhance the health and well being of yourself and family. The key to all good things is to use high quality oils. You will use less, save money and get the results you want and expect. Look for companies that have pure certified, organic non-GMO, FDA approved essential oils.
Essential Oils that are Versatile
Many essential oils can be used for more than just one thing! Some multi-taskers are lavender, rose, patchouli and frankincense. They can support skin, sleep, emotional balance and breathing. There is so much essential oils can do for you.
Ways to use and administer Essential Oils
Essential oils can be inhaled or applied topically. Here are some tips on what oils work! Just put some in your hands and rub them together. Cup your hands together over your nose then inhale! Yes, it is that easy!
- Lavender or chamomile assists in lessening the discomfort of hiccups. They can also assist with keeping your “calm”!
- Peppermint oil helps with car or travel sickness and supports a happy stomach. I would suggest keeping a bottle on hand whenever traveling.
- Allergies a problem? Blend 3 drops of lavender, lemon and peppermint and add to a steaming bowl or to a shower. This helps clear your head when there is a lot of pollen in the air!
- Two other blends is orange and patchouli or lavender and clary sage. Both blends are good for the skin and help ease stress, sadness or grief. These are great combos for a bath or bath bombs! It will help you relax and prepare for sleep which is also essential to good health!
- Flu season a problem? Make a roll on blend of lemon, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and oregano. Roll it on the bottom of your foot, then put your socks and shoes on. It will help boost your immune system naturally!
- Eucalyptus and tea tree oils have anti-viral properties too.
Herbs that Naturally Enhance your Immune System
- Both honey and ginger are powerful antioxidants that also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Honey activates the immune system’s response to infection and prevents cell proliferation. Controlling cell proliferation is key to stopping pesky viruses.
- Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties as well and may be able to help with muscle pain.
- Garlic well known for its ability to boost the immune system. Unfortunately, you need to eat it raw or roasted for the benefits.
- Another well known immune booster is Echinacea. It works by stimulating the immune system. A 2015 meta-analysis stated Echinacea may benefit those with low immune function the most, even reducing the risk for a cold up to 35 percent.
- Turmeric, is known for its anti-inflammatory effects, although research shows that it can help boost the immune system.
Other Natural Remedies to Boost Your Immune System
Here are some other natural remedies to boost your immune system! We can’t do enough to keep our bodies healthy and our immune systems strong!
- Vitamin D: get out in the sun! Or take some extra Vitamin D supplements. But fresh air and sunshine is always the best way to get it!
- Elderberry syrup is packed with Vitamin C and fiber and antioxidants! Studies have shown that it helps reduce flu systems too! Learn more about elderberry HERE!
- A good night’s sleep! 8 hours of sleep is recommended.
- Stop eating artificial sweeteners or sugars. Both weaken the immune system.
- Exercise for 30 min or more a day!
- Attitude is everything, a positive mindset is essential for your well being!
- 70-80% of your immune system is in your gut. So support a healthy gut with probiotics or eating fermented foods such as yogurt or sauerkraut to build up good bacteria.

I cannot emphasis enough that fruits, vegetables, regular exercise and drinking LOTS of water to stay hydrated are all things that will assist in promoting better health. But if you need some extra help in the eating better area, take a look at my review of Natural Supplements that assist in building your immune system when taken regularly! Conclusion
I hope this was helpful in your quest for more information on Essential Oils and Herbs that Boost the Immune System. I am dedicating this post to a dear friend that assisted in my research of this post. Her name was Pam Mele and she was a massage therapist for over 20 years. She was a childhood friend and she passed away unexpectantly this past week and will never have the opportunity to see the completed project. She will be greatly missed as she was the kindest person I have ever known. Hug your family, take care of your health and never miss an opportunity to say a kind word. Life is too short to live with regrets or to be mean.
