Grand Hyatt, Washington DC

I recently had the opportunity to attend a conference in Washington DC.  While I was there I stayed at the Grand Hyatt st 1000 H Street NW, and it was beautiful!!  Nestled only 3-4 blocks from the conference center and centrally located in the heart of DC. The rooms were over-sized and beautiful! The lobby was polished and the staff was excellent!  There is also an entrance to the Metro right off the hotel lobby!

Things To Do!

Obviously there is a ton of things to do in Washington DC.  With so many monuments and museums to attend, it is hard to decide what to do first!  And most of the museums are FREE!  The Smithsonian Museums are amazing and there are so many different ones to choose from!  There is also the Holocaust Museum, however, be prepared when you go.  It is definitely not uplifting, but it needs to be seen.  We can never forget the horrors people endured.

All of the monuments we went to were within walking distance of the hotel.  Including the White House!  No matter what your political beliefs, the White House is a must see! So is the Capital Building and the National Mall.  In the spring the cherry blossoms are amazing! And if you don’t want to walk, Uber was never more than 2-3 minutes away!

We went to some amazing eateries while in DC.  From the historic “go to” spot, Old Ebbitt Grill, to a newer eatery that was amazing!  Don’t get me wrong, Old Ebbitt Grill was great!  I had the shrimp po’ boy and it was delicious! But our last evening in DC we went to Farmers & Distillers located at 600 Massachusetts Ave NW.  It was fabulous!  With homemade ginger ale and a huge menu selection we were overwhelmed with the choices! The homemade kettle corn was a fantastic appetizer! And the dinner portions were huge!!  It is a definite “must do” when you visit!kettle corn drink fried chicken plater
