I love to travel. I started going overseas right before C0vid. Needless to say, going to Europe took a backseat to vaccines and restrictions. But I still have tons of options in my home country! And one of my favorite places in the world is Cape May, NJ. So when the opportunity to have a Cape May Vacation became available, I jumped at the opportunity!
My history in Cape May
As a kid my family and I would go to Cape May. I have the best memories of our time there. The last two years of high school we spent the entire summer. I had an ideal childhood and some of the best memories. So when my momma turned 80 this year my siblings and I decided to celebrate it in Cape May. Being that I had not seen my momma in over two years, I needed to make her birthday extra special.
Cape May is a historical resort filled with Victorian houses! I love looking at the beautiful and intricate architecture! I could walk for hours just looking at the beautiful homes.
Things to do in Cape May, NJ
There is a variety of things to do in Cape May. Everything from spending the day on the beach to riding bikes up and down the boardwalk or through the historic downtown. There is also LOTS of great stores to shop! Especially at Washington Street Mall.
Other activities are going to the lighthouse, antique shopping, deep sea fishing and miniature golf. And if you wanted to drive to Wildwood, they have a boardwalk with carnival rides, arcade games and more.
The amount of things to do can be overwhelming! This is a great destination for families and couples! It is also an amazing wedding destination! Sorry singles, not a whole lot of bars or clubs to frequent.
Every morning I was out the door and walking on the boardwalk by 6:30 a.m. And my early rising did not disappoint! Each morning was beautiful and I got to thank God for the life He has given me. MY gratitude during this trip flowed over!
Places to Stay and Cape May Vacation Rentals
A Cape May vacation has an assortment of places to stay. There are hotels, motels and bed & breakfast places. There are also condos and houses that can be rented. We stayed at hotel called the La Mer Beachfront Inn. It was beautiful and directly across from the ocean.
Our room was large with a seating area, mini kitchen area and two queen beds. We also had a balcony with chairs. The ocean view was not as good as I hoped as we were on the second floor and a better view would have been from the third or fourth floor. But it definitely wasn’t bad and we were able to hear the waves when the tide was coming in.
I also checked and there is a great variety of VRBO and AirBNB rentals too. So whatever you decide, there are plenty of Cape May vacation rental options!
Places to Eat!
We celebrated my mom’s birthday at the Washington Inn! And it was FABULOUS! Located at 801 Washington Street they did an amazing job on taking care of us and the food was superb!
Bagel Time Cafe is right on Beach Blvd and their bagels with homemade cream cheese flavors is delicious! There was also a bakery called Madison’s Bakery and it had some of the best donuts and pastries! Needless to say, I walked several miles each day to ward off all the calories!
Conclusion
This Cape May Vacation review took me a while to write. The trip was in September 2021. It was wonderful being with my family and I cherish the memories we made. It also made me realize how much I miss my family. I will never let anyone keep me from seeing my mom for so long again. Life is too short not to take the trip, eat the cake and buy the shoes. It is also too short for us not to see and enjoy our families. I have learned a lot over the last two years. But the biggest lesson was to keep living life. It is too short not to live it to the fullest!
Above all, thank you for spending your time here at Colorado Kelly! I love having you here and appreciate everyone that comes to visit and look forward to having you come back soon!
