DIY Craft Kits Review
DIY Craft Kits have become extremely popular since the start of the pandemic. And their popularity doesn’t seem to be waning anytime soon! With that in mind, I decided to review three different kits to see if they really are as much fun as they look. Lets start this DIY Craft Kits review with the a sunflower stain glass kit!
Sunflower Stain Glass Craft Kit
This kit was by far the easiest of the kits. It took less than an afternoon to complete. The drying time took longer than the actual project itself. I spent an hour or less actually working on the design. So it is a super quick, yet fun kit! It is an kit for adult however, it is easy enough for an older child to complete too.
I noticed this kit is currently sold out on Etsy.com, however, there are tons of other styles to choose from.
What is Included?
The kit was great and included everything I needed to complete the project. Cut glass, grout, glue, specific instructions and a flat board to put your project on.
The petals of the flower and the flower center were all pre-cut. And the petals were numbered so you could match the petal to the design provided. Very well organized and easy!
Candle Making Kit
Let me first say I was extremely disappointed in this kit. Although overall it was an easy project, the “decorations” included with the kit were minimal, at best. There were two tiny bags. One with 6 small rocks and one with marigold petals. Not nearly enough to decorate 6 tea candles. Nor did I have anything that even closely resembled the pictures they had as examples. With that said, I improvised!
This is how I Improvised
Before I started I bought a bag of discounted potpourri and a small bag of decorative rocks. Very small decorative rocks. So I would have more to decorate with.
This was another easy DIY craft kit. It took less than an hour from start to finish. And other than the lack of “decorations” for the top of my candles, it did have everything I needed. So I used a double boiler to melt my wax in a mason jar. Then I poured the wax into the candle holders and placed the wick.
The hardest part of this project was waiting for the wax to solidify enough to hold the dried flowers and small stones in place. Otherwise, easy peasy!
Paint By Numbers Kit
This was by far the hardest kit. And I don’t mean in a difficult way. It was hard because my eye sight stinks, and it took the longest. In fact, it is still not complete. I have 90% of it done in the picture. I will post a new picture when it is completed. All I have left is the black background.
However, this was also definitely my favorite DIY Craft Kit. The painting actually reduced my anxiety. I am not sure if it was because I had to focus so much on the little numbers and staying in the lines or not. But heck, it worked and my anxiety has been through the roof recently. So I am forever grateful! And the kit itself was great. The canvas the print was on was also durable and high quality. The only thing I did was purchase a set of new paint brushes. The ones included with the kit were inexpensive. I am sure they would have worked fine, but I wanted a bigger selection of paint brush tips to use.
Conclusion
All three kits had great instructions and supplies. The only one I would not suggest purchasing is the Pop Art candle kit on Etsy. Additionally, know that if you are looking for something quick, the paint by number kit would not be an option. However, the stained glass kit or the candle kit would be perfect! Patricia @ Grab a Plate
Glad to see your reviews! I bought my mom a paint by numbers kit, and like yours, it was way too small for her “senior eyesight.” Bummer. But I’m taking a look at the mosaic and paint kits you suggest 🙂
Thanks!
Kelly
Yes, some of them were super small!!! But like I said, the benefit out weighed the cons!
