Goal Setting, How Not to Fail
We are a couple weeks into 2021, how are your resolutions going? Did you know that almost 90% of all resolutions never get completed? So the question is are you one of the 90% who give up or the 10% that succeed?
Things to Think About Before Setting a Goal
What are you passionate about? What thrills you? I am passionate about helping people and my blog! I love it! If I am having a bad day, I write a post. It doesn’t matter if it is good enough to publish or if I just keep it as a draft, it helps me relax and I love what I do! But that is because I am passionate about what I am doing! And remember, these are your dreams and goals. No one else’s! So I say, DREAM BIG OR GO HOME!
Write it DOWN!
If you have dreams and goals, write them down! Somewhere accessible. So you can be reminded on a daily basis of what you want to accomplish. Because goals that are not written down, are just dreams, fantasies and pipe dreams that have no direction! Write it down, then start planning!

I think just about everyone has heard of the acronym S.M.A.R.T. What does it mean?
- SPECIFIC
- MEASURABLE
- ATTAINABLE
- REALISTIC
- TIME SENSITIVE
S be Specific. The more Specific the better!
M is for Measurable! Always make sure the goal is measurable. For example: I will have 10k followers by Oct 2019.
A is for Attainable. Don’t set a goal so high it isn’t attainable within the time frame you set. If you have to, create smaller goals that will build up to the larger goal.
Make sure your goals are Realistic! When making a goal, be sure you know what it will take to attain the goal in the given time frame. You never want to set yourself up for failure! Dream big, but make sure you have a plan laid out on how to get there too!
Time is a biggie! Again, if you need to break down a bigger goal into smaller ones that build up to the BIG GOAL, then so be it! There isn’t anything wrong with that.
Now Take ACTION!
Now is the time for you to take action! Eliminate any excuses on why or how it cannot be done! If you want it bad enough, you will go after it!
Don’t wait, because there will never be a perfect time to start. Just “bite the bullet” and start working towards your goals.
Not everything will go perfectly all the time. Mistakes are natural and to be expected. So do not have a fear of failure. We all have failures, both big and small! But learn from those failures and don’t loss track of the bigger picture! Success is usually one failure or in my case, meltdown, away!
Take consistent action. Even if it is on a small scale. That means, everyday take consistent action towards your goal. There are days I only have 15 minutes to work on my goal, but I take that 15 minutes and work on it! It keeps me accountable to myself. And if you need someone else to hold you accountable and motivated; share with someone what you are doing and have them follow up with you on a daily or weekly basis on what actions you have taken to obtain your goals!
