Jack Canfield, One Day to Greatness Leadership Conference
On October 23rd I had the opportunity to go to see Jack Canfield for a one day event in Denver with a friend. And it was amazing! What I would like to do here, is share some of the things we took away from this amazing event! I have been a huge Jack Canfield fan since reading his book, The Success Principles. It literally transformed my thinking and not only did my business grow, but the business I share with my husband did too! So let’s dig in as I want to share with you as much as possible!
The Objective
The main objective for the day was to learn how to go further and faster with less effort toward the life of your dreams! So we wanted to:
- Gain greater clarity about our purpose, vision and goals.
- Help develop powerful habits & mindset necessary for success
- Take 100% responsibility for our results and become more action oriented.
Success Principle: E + R = O (Events + Response = Outcome)
If you want a different outcome, you have to change your responses. Stop blaming others/circumstances/events, making excuses, justifying yo and defending your position. MAKE YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE! There are only 3 things you have control over:
- Personal behavior
- Your thoughts, self-talk and beliefs (both conscious and unconscious)
- Visual imagery, your imagination (including images of the future)
Our feelings are our responsibility, so stop making excuses! Instead, become solution oriented and act as if you have control of what happens next, because you do! Success leaves clues in the form of books, seminars, TED talks and more. So always keep learning! Never be afraid to learn more or try something new, you may just like it! And if you don’t like your results, then try changing your response to events and you may have a different outcome!
Things to Eliminate from your Vocabulary
If you want to be successful, you have to eliminate key phrases from your vocabulary. Negative thoughts and talk weaken you. So always focus on the positive, even when speaking. Here is a “short” list of some word/phrases that need to be “dumped” right away!
- I can’t
- Should
- Have to
- Try
Every thought you think is sending out a message to yourself and others. So avoid negative people and surround yourself with positive words, people and self talk! Remove yourself from the “ain’t it awful” club. By that I mean, make the 5 people you “hanging out with” most positive, energetic and successful people! The quality of your relationships will affect your health, thoughts and beliefs!
Be Clear on why Your Here
What is your purpose, what are you trying to accomplish, what is the vision for your life? You should have a clear personal and professional vision of a great life. And what that means to you. For example, my personal vision for a great life is to have time freedom. Financial freedom is great, but spending time with my family and having amazing experiences together is more important. I also want to make a positive impact on others through charitable donations and time spent volunteering.
My professional goal for a great life is to have over 100k unique visitor’s to my blog each month and to make a certain amount of money (or more!) from those pursuits. And I am happy to report, I am on my way to accomplishing both!
Practice the Rule of 5
Robert Collier, publisher of The Secret of the Ages, states: success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. So which five small action steps can you take tomorrow (or better yet, today!) to achieve your personal goal?
What five small action steps can you take tomorrow (or better yet, today!) to achieve your professional goal? Take some time to think about this and write them out on a piece of paper, where you can see it every day, and implement it!
Believe it’s Possible
You have approximately 50k thoughts a day. Replace every negative thought with a positive one! Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want. Always believe that the universe and other people are “plotting” to do you good! Always have a positive expectation for the best. And always trust the law of attraction! Walt Disney always said: “If you can dream it, you can do it!”
Use the Power of Visualization
Research studies show that the power of visualization is real and can assist in accelerating performance. Your level of performance always matches your dominant vision. So if you visualize yourself as not making it, you won’t. Visualize all your goals and result as though they are already accomplished! Do this twice a day, and feel the feelings you would have as if you already accomplished them! And create a vision board! Use the power of images to keep you focused on your goals. Whether it be a car, trip to Paris or a professional goal, be sure to have pictures, quotes and more compiled where you can see it every day. You can purchase the Jack Canfield Vision Board Collection for more in depth visualization and vision board techniques! and always remember, what is the one thing that separates winners from losers? WINNERS TAKE ACTION!
Ask, Ask, Ask!
Nothing happens until a request is made. An offer is made. Or an action occurs. So reject rejection! When someone says “NO!” you say “NEXT!”. Never let the fear of rejection keep you from accomplishing your dreams! Always remember some will some won’t and someone is waiting. Jack’s first book, Chicken Soup for the Soul”, was rejected 144 times before he found a publisher. Can you imagine if he stopped after the 143rd rejection? Don’t get mad, just keep going! Success is just around the corner!
Practice Persistence
Never give up on your dream! Take advantage of the law of probabilities:
- Try more things, the more likely one of them will work.
- The more people you ask, the more likely one of them will say yes!
- Read more books, the more likely one of them will change your life!
It is never too late to start! And always remember failure is an event. You are not a failure, it is not a person. And always learn from failures, because ever one has a lesson to be taught.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Much of what I wrote was adapted from the student workbook. If you ever have the opportunity to do one of Jack’s training’s, I highly recommend it! It was an amazing day of digging deep and learning how to accomplish my own professional and personal goals!
