This summer we went to Jackson Hole Wyoming, and I have to admit, it was one of the best trips we have ever taken. Between the breathtaking views of the Grand Teton Mountains to the amazing Jenny Lake, we did a lot in a short period of time. And we would go back again in a hot second! But let me tell you about Jackson Hole Hotels and then we will move onto Things to do!
Jackson Hole Hotels
We stayed at the Rustic Inn Creekside Resort and Spa. It is located at 475 North Cache Street in downtown Jackson Wyoming. It is a boutique hotel that had a variety of rooms to choose from. We had a room that faced the creek and was definitely over sized. With two beds, a couch and a small area with table and chairs, there was plenty of room for two or more! If you have kids, this is a great resort to stay at! It is within walking distance of downtown Jackson and 10 minutes from the closest entrance to Grand Teton National Park. It is also directly across the street from the Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center.
Hotel Amenities
The Rustic Inn had lots of amazing amenities for the entire family! Here is a thorough list for you to review!
- 24 hour concierge service
- On site laundry
- Gourmet Breakfast Buffet, included with your room price
- Wi-Fi
- Bottled Water
- Full Service Spa
- In town shuttle services
- Fitness Gazebo
- Outdoor fire pits
- On site ski rentals and storage
- Outdoor pool
- Bar, Bistro and breakfast room
I had the hotel provide chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of champagne and rose petals upon arrival. Obviously, this was an additional charge but this was a late anniversary trip for my hubby and I. It was a lot of fun to see his surprised expression when we got to the room!
The concierges also advised us on what excursions to choose. Which was awesome, because we weren’t sure which ones were worth the money or who had the best customer service! They were extremely knowledgeable and helped make our trip memorable!
Things to do in Jackson Hole
The shopping was great! And not exorbitantly overpriced like you can sometimes find in resort areas. We also went to the National Museum of Wildlife Art at 2820 Runguis Road. Another great activity was the chuck wagon dinner! That was a lot of fun and very entertaining. We rode in chuck wagons for about 30 minutes into the national forest for a buffet style dinner. They had entertainment while we ate and the food was pretty good! It was a meat, corn, bread and potatoes kind of meal with brownies for dessert. Well worth the money! We reserved with the Bar T 5 Ranch. And they put on a wonderful show and dinner!
Snake River Grand Teton
Another excursion we did was a float tour down the Snake River. Our guide was FABULOUS! We met at a parking lot outside the national forest. We were then shuttled about 10 miles up river where we suited up in our life jackets and got into our rafts. As we went down the river the guide pointed out all kinds of land marks, wildlife and much more. The trip lasted about 2 hours and when we got back he suggested a pizza place across the river that had the most amazing views of the Grand Tetons! Lunch became a spectacular view filled afternoon! We used Triangle X Ranch for the float trip, and our guide was worth every penny! When planning and executing these excursions, be sure to bring cash for tips. Our guides and entertainers were worth their weight in gold!
Jackson Hole to Grand Teton National Forest
The best part of this trip was the Grand Teton National Forest. My brother and sister-in-law joined us on this incredible journey. And three days in a row we spent exploring and discovering the park. We saw elk, a bear, buffalo and were blessed with some of the most incredible views I have ever seen.
When we first arrived, the weather did not cooperate. It down poured the entire day our first full day there! Otherwise, the weather wasn’t bad and it was fabulous our last and final day. It just took some persistence and timing to get the perfect sunrise pictures!
Jenny Lake and Signal Mountain Road
Some of the things we did inside the park was to the boat shuttle at Jenny Lake to Inspiration Point Trail. We went to Oxbow Bend for our sunrise pictures and we drove Signal Mountain Road. That is where we saw the bear (but I couldn’t get a picture! He was too quick!) and the elk.
Jenny Lake and Inspiration Point were wonderful. Even with the overcast weather, we still got some really nice pictures! Take a look!
Conclusion
We had a wonderful trip going to Jackson Hole this summer. And it was made even better because my brother and sister in law were able to join us on this adventure! Next year we will try for Yellowstone! That would be another great adventure! But until then, I hope you found my Jackson Hole Hotels and things to do a great source of information!
Military Discount!
Always remember the parks are free to military members! And we even got two free tickets on the boat shuttle for my brother and hubby as they are both retired military! A great way to be thanked for their service!
Above all, thank you for spending your time here at Colorado Kelly! I love having you here and appreciate everyone that comes to visit and look forward to having you come back soon!
