This is the final recipe in my Magnolia Table four part series! And it is a good one! Ready and on the table in about 45 minutes, this is a quick and easy recipe for you and your family to enjoy! I served over brown rice with black pepper and a touch of butter added. This Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe was easy and delicious!
Modifications: Honey Garlic Chicken Breast Recipe
The recipe calls for chicken thighs. I don’t like thigh meat. Not sure why, I just don’t! My hubby thinks I am a little weird, and that is ok. So I made mine with boneless chicken breast, cut up. The only difference is I did not get the “charred” look from keeping the thighs under the broiler. I was afraid I would dry out my chicken. I could have made the breasts whole and charred them, but honestly is was very good the way I made it too! Otherwise, I made the recipe exactly the same as they suggested!
Magnolia Table’s Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
- 2 tsp Garlic Salt
- 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 8 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs *I used 4 medium boneless chicken breast, cubed
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 cups Cubed, Fresh Pineapple
- 1 1/2 cups Red Bell Pepper Strips
- 1 tbsp Minced Fresh Parsley
- 1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds *I skipped the Sesame Seeds
- Cooked Rice for Serving
Instructions
- Position oven rack 6 inches from the broiler element and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In medium bowl, whisk together vinegar, honey, ketchup, melted butter, garlic salt and garlic until well combined.
- Place chicken thighs on one side of a sheet pan and pat them dry. Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and place pineapple and red pepper strips on the other end of the baking sheet. Baste chicken with 1/2 cup of the sauce ad bake for 10 minutes.
- Turn the oven to broil (do not remove the pan) and broil until the chicken is charred in several places. 8 to 10 minutes.
- Transfer the chicken, pineapple and peppers to a large bowl and toss with 1/2 cup of the remaining sauce. Use remaining sauce for those who would like more!
- Store in airtight container for 3 to 5 days and enjoy!!!

I made this tonight – it’s easy. Great with chicken thighs. It was very tart, I would cut the vinegar in half.

I am a firm believer in adjusting ingredients to your own tastes!

This wasn’t a hit in our house. The 1 cup of ketchup seems oddly excessive given the amounts of the other ingredients to the point where I wondered if it was a mistake in the recipe. Even with using thighs and broiling, I’m not sure how she got so much brown color in her photo if she used the same ingredients for the sauce. I used chicken breasts and still broiled them. The sauce made per the instructions was very red and thin. It essentially tasted like you were dipping plain grilled chicken into a mix of ketchup and honey. Could not taste much of the garlic. We ate it, and it wasn’t awful or anything, just not anything we’d ever make again.

I’m sorry you did not enjoy it as much as we did! Thanks for your feedback!
