The Mirage Hotel & Casino
Before I go any further, I will be the first to admit that Las Vegas is not my “cup of tea”. I never have been, nor will I ever be, a gambler and I go to plenty of theater shows in Denver. However, I had the opportunity to go to a conference in Las Vegas. It was held at The Mirage Hotel & Casino. So being the person I am, I booked my hotel room and set off for an adventure!
The First Impression
The trip from the airport to the hotel was not long. Upon arriving, the flowers were beautiful and the employees were attentive. The outside of the hotel looks slightly dated. But inside it was a typical well maintained casino. It is not overly flashy and had a ton of beautiful plants inside, but still just an average casino. Keep in mind, I used to frequent Atlantic City in my younger years. So things have not changed much in my opinion of what casinos were 20 years ago, to this one.
The Hotel Room
I had a typical hotel room with a king size bed and a view of the pool. It was extremely clean and neat. Which I love about any hotel, whether it is expensive or not! It was also very room and the bathroom looked t have been recently updated. Nothing fancy, but definitely clean and neat! and for the price, I can’t complain!
Amenities and Entertainment
The Mirage Hotel & Casino definitely had an abundance of activities. There were several different shows to choose from, quite a few restaurants and pool. The pool area was beautiful and all the food was delicious. Whether from the Pantry or the higher end restaurants on site. There was not a meal that was not tasty and delicious. And the volcano show after dark is truly amazing! I have to say, I was impressed with how long and stunning the volcano and fire show was! It is a must see! It is also located on the “strip” so you are within walking distance of just about anything you might want to do! That is a huge plus!
The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
This was a neat little side activity at The Mirage. I would not have paid the price to go again, it was a neat little area to see white tigers, dolphins and some very cool plant life. The entrance to the Secret Garden is by the pool. So there was a little confusion getting to it. I am not sure it was worth the money, if I am being completely honest!
Overall Experience
The overall experience was fine. The hotel was clean, the employees were courteous and they had a variety of things to do on site, other than gambling. But after seeing some of the other hotels, I will be staying somewhere else next time. A little dated and I enjoy a little more luxury when I travel. Personal opinion of course! But definitely not bad for a first time and at a conference!
