Slow Cooker Meatballs
My hubby has been asking me to make meatballs and spaghetti for the last several weeks. So I decided to try making Slow Cooker Meatballs! My husband loves Italian food and frozen meatballs are not sufficient! So with a ton of things that I needed to do today, I decided to break out the slow cooker and make life a little easier on myself! Slow Cooker Meatballs are easy and amazing!
Nutritional Value of Beef
Beef is a good source of complete protein. Which means it provides all the essential amino acids your body needs. It also contains essential nutrients like iron and vitamin B12. They are important for blood health and neurological function, respectively.
Keep in mind that these values can fluctuate based on factors like the specific cut of meat, cooking method and any added ingredients (e.g., sauces, marinades). Additionally, fattier cuts of beef will have higher calorie and fat content compared to leaner cuts. If you’re concerned about the nutritional content of beef, choosing lean cuts and trimming visible fat before cooking can help reduce the overall fat and calorie content. Check out the USDA website for more detailed information on specific cuts of meat.
Make Life Easier
Some of the things I did to make life easier when making this recipe was use a slow cooker liner! The clean up is reduced to less than half!
I also used jar sauce. I have made fresh marinara, but when it is crunch time, jar sauce can be used! So I used two jars of our favorite sauce to cook the meatballs in the slow cooker! A time saver indeed!
Slow Cooker Meatballs
Equipment
- Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1/2 lb Italian Ground Sausage
- 1 Large Egg
- 3/4 cup Italian Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese *I use freshly grated
- 1/2 cup Onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 tbsp Italian Seasonings
- 2 24 oz Jars of your favorite Marinara Sauce *Or you can make your own!
- Salt/Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare your slow cooker! Line the pot with a plastic liner for easy clean up, and pour 1 jar of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of the cooker.
- Combine: meats, bread crumbs, cheese, garlic, onion, egg and seasonings into a large mixing bowl.
- Mix until well blended.
- Form 1 inch "balls" and place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Makes almost 3 dozen at the 1" size.
- Broil in oven for 8-10 minutes. Meatballs should have a slight "crust" on the surface.
- Gently remove the meatballs from the baking pan and place into the slow cooker on top of the sauce.
- Pour second jar of marinara sauce over meatballs. DO NOT STIR! Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. High for 4-6 hours.
- When done, pour over your favorite pasta dish or make meatball sandwiches! Then enjoy!
