The Best Eateries in Vail Colorado
If this is your first visit to Colorado Kelly, welcome! If you have been here before you know my “happy place” is Vail Colorado. I have reviewed several different hotels and things to do. But I have never shared my favorite places to eat before! So when my baby girl invited me for a day trip to Vail, I jumped at the chance to power through and pick what I consider the best eateries in Vail!
Best Breakfast Restaurants
There are two “sit down” restaurants that have amazing breakfasts in which we return to, time and time again. Each restaurant has a different take on breakfast. But we will start with my favorite of the two, Vintage, a French brasserie-style restaurant. And it is amazing!
Vintage
Vintage is located at 12 Vail Road #100 in Center Village. Right around the corner from where most of the shopping and attractions are in Vail it is at a perfect location. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and we have never had bad service! And every dish is better than the last. The bacon wrapped figs are my FAVORITE!
Just know they don’t always have “traditional” breakfast choices. The bacon wrapped figs and Southwestern Benedict are my favorite dishes. But the Avocado Toast and Swiss Forest Gallette is excellent too! Our last visit to this fine eatery was January 2021. And it was amazing as always! And know they do have lunch and dinner options. But their brunch is my favorite! And be sure to make reservations as they fill up fast!
The Little Diner
If you are looking for a less expensive and more traditional breakfast choices, The Little Diner is wonderful! Located at 616 W Lionshead Circle it is on the west side of Vail. They have gone through several transformations over the past couple of years and also have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have great “counter service”. It really is a gem of a place!
The Little Diner is open daily from 7-2 p.m. They serve breakfast and lunch. The Mixed Grill is my favorite breakfast item. But we have had almost everything on the menu over the years! And for all you east coast fans that know what pork roll is, they serve that too!!!
Lunch and Dinner Restaurants You will LOVE!
Here are three of my favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner! Two are more casual, one is a little higher priced. Let’s get started on my first family friendly restaurant choice! The Blue Moose!!
Blue Moose Pizza
The Blue Moose is located in Lionshead Village on the west side of Vail. It is casual and a great place for families. They have a wonderful selection of pizzas, starters, salads and sandwiches. There is definitely something for everyone and we have not had anything that wasn’t fantastic.
El Segundo Tacos
El Segundo serves the BEST tacos ever. Seriously, their tacos are amazing. Definitely some of the best I have ever had, and I have gone to lots of taco places. Their salsa, chips and starters are darn good too. We recently had the crab meat and corn Quesadilla, which was truly scrumptious! Located in the heart of Vail Village along Gore Creek it is open daily from 12-10 p.m. Their margaritas are strong and the service is always great! Again, be sure to make reservations as there is still only a 50% capacity for restaurants! Hopefully, that will be changing as of April 15th! But I will keep you posted!
Sweet Basil
The Sweet Basil is by far my favorite restaurant! It is a little pricey and has some interesting menu items, but I have never had anything there that did not knock my socks off! From yummy appetizers and starters to delicious cocktails, they have mastered it all! The Whipped Feta and Lobster Bisque are currently my go to starters! The New York Steak and the pork chop are wonderful dinner options too!
Located in Center Village it is easily accessible no matter where you are staying in Vail. And well worth snagging a reservation! Ask if you can be seated outside with a view of the river! And don’t forget to indulge in the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert! They will even give you the recipe, upon request!
Conclusion
These are my absolute favorite restaurants in Vail, however, I have a couple “neat places” we enjoy too! Yeti’s Grind is in Center Village and has the best coffee, hot Coco, pastries and breakfast burritos if you want to stay on the “low”! And the 10th Mountain Whiskey Lounge is another great place to stop and have a drink! They have live music (when there are no restrictions) and have a wonderful variety of drinks, definitely worth stopping by while you are there!

Sometimes I can’t believe that I have never visited Colorado! It’s definitely on my list of places to see, and after reading about all this delicious food, I’m pretty sure I’ll have to check out Vail. That first fancy brunch place is totally my style! And I bet I would hang out a lot at that whiskey lounge.
