Ingredients
1lbGround Pork Sausage*use Chorizo if you would like more of a spicy "kick"
112 oz Bag Herb Seasoned Stuffing Mix
2cansChicken Broth*This makes the stuffing very moist, if you want it a little drier, use a little less chicken broth
4tbspButter
1mediumApple*I used a Honey Crisp Apple. Feel free to cut up 2 apples if you desire more apples!
1/2mediumYellow Onion
3Celery Stalks, Diced
1/2cupDried Cranberries*optional, I sometimes use more too!
2TBSPRosemary Seasoning Mix*If you don't have the Rosemary Seasoning Mix, combine garlic power, dried rosemary, thyme and salt/pepper to taste for a substitute.
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Grease 9x9 baking dish. 9x13 inch dish if you are not stuffing your turkey. Set dishes aside.
Chop and core the apple, chop the celery and half the onion. Set aside until ready to cook.
In a large pan, cook sausage over medium heat, until no longer pink and crumbly. Set aside.
Melt butter in pan (over medium heat) then add the onion and celery. Cook for about 2-3 minutes then add the apple pieces and cranberries. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Add sausage and stir until combined.
Sprinkle seasoning mix and salt/pepper to taste over the mixture. And mix again until combined.
Add stuffing cubes and mix thoroughly. Then slowly add 3 cups of chicken broth a little at a time so it is evenly distributed though out the mixture. Cook over medium heat for 5-10 min until all the broth is absorbed.
Place in baking dish and bake for 25-30 minute at 425 degrees. If you are using a 9x13 inch pan, you will only need to cook for 20-30 minutes. Use a smaller pan and you may have to cook a little longer. Top should be browned and have a slight crisp to it! Then enjoy!
